Hello Friends and Customers. Thank you for visiting our web site today.
This section of our web site is designed to provide you with valuable information so you can make an “informed” decision about having your carpet or furniture cleaned.
I have found over the past 26 years, that there are a number of “misconceptions” when it comes to cleaning. So, I have put together this section of our web site to address some of these misconceptions. If you don’t find your question answered here, be sure to click on the link at the bottom of the page and email me direct.
Misconceptions of Cleaning
You should wait as long as possible to have your carpet cleaned.
Wrong. Today’s carpets are designed to hide soil very well. If you wait until the soil level is medium to heavy, you have waited too long. Dirt is highly abrasive to your carpet. Heavy traffic areas should be cleaned twice per year, and secondary areas once per year.
Scotchgard Protection never needs replenished.
Unfortunately, no. Scotchgard protection, or any other soil and stain protection is removed with normal traffic over time. Cleaning will also remove some of this protection. We recommend that high traffic areas be re-treated with each professional cleaning.
The only reason to clean carpet is to remove the dirt.
Nope. If you think about it, your carpet is like a huge “sink”. All of the air-borne contaminants settle into your carpet and furniture. Every time you vacuum, or sit on the sofa, you spread those contaminants back into the air. If your family suffers from allergies, then having your carpet and furniture professionally cleaned regularly will help maintain a “Healthy Home”.
The only difference between cleaning companies is price.
This one is a “no brainer”. I read a sign recently that said….”Hiring a professional isn’t expensive, hiring an amateur is”. At SUNRISE CLEANING & RESTORATION we believe in doing the job right the first time. Quality will always be a better value.
Questions to Ask Every Cleaner
Is your company and it’s technicians certified with the IICRC? www.iicrc.org
If their answer is…”what’s the IICRC” then that should tell you something. The IICRC is the certifying organization for the Cleaning & Restoration Industry. Technicians attend formal courses for each area of expertise. They then must take a comprehensive exam prior to earning certification.
Do you carry Workers Comp and Liability insurance?
Unfortunately, there are some companies who do not carry proper liability and workers comp insurance. You are putting your home and your family members at risk by hiring a company without proper insurance.
Do you offer more than one method of cleaning?
Our primary method of cleaning is “hot water extraction”. However, there are situations where another method of cleaning is appropriate. Some jobs will require methods to be used in combination. A quality cleaning company will be able to match the right cleaning method to your cleaning needs.
Is your work guaranteed?
Most will answer yes. At Sunrise, we give you a “Certificate of Guarantee” We have a 30 Day promise. If you are unhappy with any portion of the job, we will return and redo that portion. If you are still unhappy, we will refund your money. It’s that simple…if you’re not happy, we’re not happy!
Different Methods…Which Is Right
This is a subject that led to many debates between cleaning companies and equipment manufactures over the years. It has also created a lot of confusion with the public. Let me address each method of cleaning offered in our market.
Chemical Bonnet Cleaning
This method employs a basic floor buffing machine and a round absorbent cotton pad. A chemical is sprayed on the carpet, and the carpet is “buffed” with the machine and pad. Soil is removed by absorption into the pad. When one side of the pad is dirty, it is turned over. This method was developed over 40 years ago to help “maintain” flat commercial carpet in office facilities. This method is best suited for lightly soiled carpet…not medium to heavy soil. The advantage to this method is it has a rapid dry time since it uses minimal moisture. However, you can’t properly clean corners and edges, nor can you properly clean stairs. We do not recommend this method for residential cleaning.
Portable Extraction
Portable equipment is well suited for “do-it-yourselfers”, it is easy to operate, and inexpensive to rent. However, it’s hard work! If you choose to rent portable equipment to clean your carpet, feel welcome to call me for tips on how to be the best results. Portable equipment is widely used in high rise buildings and in institutional facilities such as schools. In the hands of a trained technician, you can obtain excellent results.
Truck Mounted Extraction
This is the method of choice of the majority of professional cleaners. The reason is simple…it allows a trained technician to do a very high quality job.
The greatest advantage to truck mounted extraction is its capability. The machines will heat the cleaning solution to over 200 degrees F. This allows for superior cleaning and helps reduce dry times. Truck mounted extractions also has over ten times the vacuum of a portable. When you combine the best equipment and the best technicians…..what you get is SUNRISE CLEANING & RESTORATION cleaning.
